hopefully we don't get invited to any formal weddings

because i've hacked d's dress shirt into a cute summer skirt
(don't worry. he won't miss it. ratio of dress shirts i buy him to ones he wears is about 12:1)
it was all melanie's idea.
she passed on to me the cutest tutorial on turning menswear into chickwear.
i've since lost it
but it's an easy idea. steps for the interested.

1. hack off the collar and sleeves.
2. turn inside out. sew the sides together, taking them in a bit but not too much or there won't be enough fabric to drawstring
(you can measure fit before starting by buttoning up shirt bottom half up and stepping into it)
3. make a drawstring waist and put a tie or ribbon through
it looks cute as a just below the knee shift with a pair of heels for you taller types
but it was a bit swimmy on this 5 ft 3 1/2 inch girl
so i measured it against my fave AE mini
(for further proof of my shortness, check out where it hits the model) ;)
thanks, mel! you know how these kinds of things relax me
