ode to sock monkeys

at our house, we love them.
while i was tackling today's craft between word crafting, i realized i also like cardboard art. (i've made everything from child sized playroom pirate ships & kitchens to kiddie espresso makers and dollhouse fireplaces) today i wanted to do a painting for boy #1's room and was about to go out shopping for a canvas (but that would have eaten into serious writing time) when i realized the box that my new clock came in would work as a big fat canvas if taped shut and primed black.

steps for the interested

1. tape shut
2. paint black
3. draw image to paint in pencil
4. paint
5. staple knotted string on the back hanger style
6. hang
so cute

  4. oh michelle, that is SO cute. Only one problem, I couldn't draw if I tried! I'll have to use the base idea and work with something predraw - like a magazine cut out or something. Thanks for sharing.
